Before I begin I want to clarify that these side effects shown below are from my my full blown IVF treatment for natural killer cells. Most people would not get these symptoms or the arduous treatment that I have gone though. The images below are the result of what I believe are withdrawal symptoms from steroid treatment. The thing is that shortly after (well immediately) after stopping steroid treatment, my feet started to swell up.This is a treatment you undergo if you have natural killer cells.
A few week later I went Christmas shopping. I was out for the whole day and noticed as the day wore on that feet were increasingly sore. Latter when I came home I stripped off and discovered that my legs had swollen again and had develop this massive rash. It took ages for the rash to disappear – probably about a month. However I am still left with a slight discoloration on my right leg.

Hi Carol,
It’s the Monday before Cup Day in Melbourne. I am at work on this traditionally quiet day and came across your blog.
I have gone through 3 failed cycles of IVF and am about to make the decision to stop this journey. Just as you had written, IVF consumes you mentally, changes you physically and is a large financial investment that may not result in anything at all.
Carol, how are you now? Has your body recovered fully after your strong steroid medication?
After reading all of your posts – it feels as though I know you – and not to have seen another post from you since Feb 2011, I do wonder whether you are OK?
Keen to hear from you if you are still checking this blog – perhaps you are so over the whole IVF subject that you don’t want anything to do with it anymore. I understand.
I sincerely hope all is well and do hope I will get an email from you.
Take care,
Tracey

Hi,
I am not sure if you are still posting or still trying. I feel like we are twins. I am also adopted and have had 15 cycles, 4 MC’s and am going for my 16th in Jan 2012. As I turned 45 in October I have had to do my next cycle in Greece as the UK cuts you off with your own eggs at 45. the only way they would treat me is if I used a combo of my eggs and a donor. I am having a great deal of trouble accepting the concept of donor especially as I am adopted. Anyhow I also have NKC, TNF Alpha and something like MPHER and have been on the cocktail as well. I had been on steriods so long that my body just gave out. I have been off them a month and still have trouble getting out of bed. It felt like a death not continuing with more cycles while I was still young enough but I just couldn’t physically. Anyhow I just wanted to mention thatmy brother and his wife had 13 rounds of IVF and have now gone the surrogate routte in India. It is very expensive but the amazing thing is that they are now expecting twins. I am not sure if this is something that you would consider but I thought I would put it out there. They are from The Gold Coast where I used to live. Anyhow I hope all is well with you and this does not cause you pain. I am so proud of you and your struggle and meeting your Bio mum something that I never want to do.

Sorry my reply is a bit late. better late than never.
I have stopped IVF – having 4-6 needles a day was too much. I am well.
I would still love to have children but I guess not having them is something you learn to live with.
